Nope! You are not required to sell anything to anyone. When you become a wholesale member, you get a special link that you can share with friends and get credit from their purchases, but there are no minimum sales amounts at all. In fact, 90% of the wholesale members in Young Living don’t do the business side at all. They are buying from Young Living because of the quality alone.
There are absolutely NO minimum monthly purchase requirements. To remain a wholesale member, you have to make $50 worth of purchases per YEAR to keep your membership. But if there’s a year that you don’t make a $50 purchase, you can reinstate your wholesale membership discount by just placing a $50 order.
If you do find yourself making regular purchases each month, then Young Living has a Rewards Program (Essential Rewards) where you can make a percentage back in product credit each month on all of your purchases. So that’s a neat program to join if you find that you *want* to purchase regularly but it’s not a requirement for being a wholesale member.
It does seem like there are a lot of essential oil companies out there, doesn’t it?
I can’t speak to the quality of other companies, but I can say that Young Living was the only company in my research of essential oil companies that could answer all of my questions about purity in a way that was satisfactory to me.
Young Living was the only company that has their own farms (in the regions where the plants should be grown), could absolutely guarantee that no pesticides or herbicides were used in the growing of any of their oils (they use essential oils for pest control and they do all of the weeding by hand), has their own testing equipment (they do both in-house and 3rd party testing, and use many different testing methods not just GC/MS which only tests for certain chemicals, not whether those chemicals are synthetic or not), and only uses the first distillation of oils instead of adding chemicals to get more out of the plant.
Young Living also was the only company that was directly in charge of essential oil farming operations. Every other company I researched goes through some kind of "broker” to buy their oils. They have to trust that the oil broker is telling the truth, who has to trust that the essential oil distilleries are telling the truth, who have to trust that the farmers are telling the truth about what they say they are doing.
With Young Living, you just have to trust one company instead of several.
I feel like it’s a trust step either way (anyone could be lying) but I felt the most comfortable trusting Young Living since they are a full-disclosure company. ANYONE can visit the farms, participate in the harvesting and distillation, view the Young Living labs, and see the entire process. That’s not an option with any other company.
Absolutely! Essential oils are one of the safest and most natural products that can benefit your newborn or child's health. All three of us have used essential oils safely with all of our children. However, you should know how to use oils safely and effectively around newborns and children. Just because something is natural doesn't always equal safe. Here are a few key points to remember:
1. Start low and go slow. A little oil goes a long way, especially on babies. Apply most often on bottoms of feet.
2. Diffuse in an open area.
3. Keep oils out of reach from children - they love to play with the bottles.
4. Always mix with a carrier oil like olive oil or coconut oil. Babies' skin can be very sensitive.
5. In the oils PSK there are two oils that have child proof lids (these are not recommended for children). All other oils that come in the PSK are considered safe.
Here is a list of oils that are not recommended around children under the age of one:
Eucalyptus
Ravinstara
Peppermint
Wintergreen
Rosemary
Fennel

Young Living is dedicated to helping support your pets oily needs as well as yours. They also have an essential oils line specifically for pets! As a general rule oils are safe to use on and/or around your pets. However, the smaller the pet the more caution you should take (specifically with cats). You will want to keep your oils out of reach from your pet and also diffuse in a large open area. Just like with children, test out the oils a little bit at a time. Start low and go slow. If you're needing a quick "how to" regarding oils and pets with some more detailed information click here.

No! Young Living has over 600 products that they offer! Young Living has an entire line of personal care products, supplements, make up, energy drinks, baby products and more! Almost every product incorporates essential oils (for example, frankincense is absolutely wonderful in facial products), but there’s a wide variety of products available.
While all Young Living oils meet our Seed to Seal® promise and exacting testing for purity and safety, our traditional essential oils are intended for topical/aromatic use, and our Vitality oils are intended for internal consumption. This distinction allows Young Living and our members to freely share the dietary and culinary benefits of our oils, thanks to Vitality’s clearly labeled dietary instructions.
A carrier oil is a vegetable oil—such as coconut oil, olive oil, or grapeseed oil—that can be used to dilute essential oils. Young Living’s V-6™ Vegetable Oil Complex is an excellent carrier oil for all applications.
Carrier oils ensure that essential oils applied topically are comfortable to the skin. Dilution with a carrier oil does not dilute the effect of the essential oil. In fact, it prevents waste due to excessive application. Look for dilution ratios on Young Living essential oil bottles.
Vegetable shortening, butter, margarine, or petroleum derivatives (such as mineral oil, baby oil, and petroleum jelly) should never be used as carrier oils.
“Hot oils” are oils that can cause a hot or warming sensation when applied to the skin. Examples of hot oils and blends include Cinnamon, Clove, Lemongrass, Oregano, Thyme, Exodus II™, and Thieves®. For some people, Peppermint’s cooling sensation can be too intense.
Young Living recommends using a patch test procedure prior to first use. To perform a patch test, apply 1–2 drops of essential oil to a patch of skin such as the forearm. Observe that area of skin over the course of 1–2 hours for any noticeable reaction; however, reactions occur usually within 5–10 minutes. If you experience a hot or burning sensation or develop a rash, add V-6 or another carrier oil to the affected area as often as needed.
If discomfort or irritation occurs, stop using the essential oil and apply V-6 or another carrier oil to the affected area. If a rash occurs, this may be a sign of detoxification. Drink adequate water to encourage the release and removal of toxins in your body. Toxins present in petrochemical-based soaps and skin care products, detergents, and perfumes may trigger some of the detoxification reactions. Consider discontinuing these agents if a reaction occurs. Before using the essential oil again, perform a patch test (see above under “What is a “hot oil?”) and dilute with a carrier oil as needed.
Be aware that some documents suggest diluting the oil with water, but water actually drives oil into the skin and eyes. Never use water in an attempt to flush the oil off of the skin, as this may increase discomfort. If essential oil gets in your eye, flush with V-6 or another carrier oil as quickly as possible to alleviate any discomfort. If eye discomfort does not subside within 5 minutes, seek medical attention.
Follow the proper usage instructions printed on each essential oil label. Essential oils are very powerful, so start low and go slow. Excessive use of essential oils may increase the risk for adverse reactions. In most cases, 1–2 drops are adequate, and using more may waste product. Depending on the essential oil, you can gradually build up to 3–4 uses per day, if desired.
As with any medical condition, we strongly recommended that prior to using essential oils, you seek the advice and recommendation of a competent, trained health care advisor who is experienced in essential oil usage. Some people choose to avoid overuse and excessive use of Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea), Sage (Salvia officinalis), Idaho Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare), Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis), Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare), and Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens), as well as the blends and supplements that contain these oils.
Some essential oils, especially citrus oils, contain natural molecules that react with sunlight (UV light) and cause a sensitivity reaction. Young Living labels the essential oils and oil blends that contain these compounds with a warning to avoid sun/UV light for 12–48 hours after applying. Always use caution when starting to use a new oil. To reduce the risk of sensitivity, use patch testing (see above under “What is a “hot oil?”), dilute, and apply the oil to skin that will not be exposed to sun/UV light. Young Living formulates its beauty and cosmetic products to remove sun-sensitizing agents to reduce the risk of sun sensitivity.
If you have a disease or medical condition or are using a prescription medication, it is recommended that prior to using an essential oil, you consult with a health care advisor who has experience with essential oils. Seek the advice of the prescribing physician and a pharmacist about potential interactions between any medication and essential oils.

Because they are the antidote to oxidative stress!
Oxidative stress or damage is caused by free radicals latching onto healthy atoms and stealing their electrons in an attempt to stabilize, which causes oxidation. An example of oxidation is visible when a sliced apple exposed to the air turns brown.
Oxidation has been implicated in the origin of more than 100 human diseases and in the aging process.
The molecules that lost their electrons to oxidation then try to stabilize themselves by taking what they need from other molecules, triggering a chain of free radical reactions.
This chain reaction has been implicated in the pathology of several human diseases, including cancer, atherosclerosis, malaria, and rheumatoid arthritis.
Antioxidants bind to free radicals by sharing their available electrons and safely helping the body eliminate them. Antioxidants act at the levels of prevention, interception, and repair to oppose the free radical activity, neutralizing the damage caused by free radicals.
